New York promised bus riders up to six minutes.

On July 8, 2026, the city and state committed to making buses 20% faster on 50 priority corridors. This measure follows that commitment in the MTA's published data, every month. Latest: July 2026, the first post-plan month, compared with July 2025.

The plan attaches no single deadline to the 20% goal; DOT and MTA evaluate each corridor 6–12 months after its improvements are built. This measure reports monthly and imposes no deadline of its own.

The busiest corridors are in Queens

The two most-used corridors in the plan, Kissena Blvd/Union St/Parsons Blvd (46,769 riders a day) and Main St/Linden Pl (40,907), both run through Queens - ahead of anything in Manhattan. The slowest is Midtown Crosstown at 4.54 mph, about walking pace with a headwind.

Boroughs: MN Manhattan, BX the Bronx, BK Brooklyn, QN Queens, SI Staten Island. The 2026 status column repeats the plan's own label for each corridor: bus lanes and busways are street redesigns (a busway limits the street to buses), capital means a construction project, bus priority covers signal and curb changes, study and engagement are planning stages, future project means work starts after 2026, and rapid corridor visioning is early planning for a new limited-stop route.

Sorted by riders. Corridors share routes, so the citywide figure counts each route once. The change column compares July 2026 with July 2025 on each corridor's routes, rider-weighted. Most corridors had no plan treatment yet, so read it next to the pre-plan swing (−5.6% to +1.0% citywide), not as the plan's effect.
